Members Head to Washington D.C.

In June Karen Leslie and Jenny Hetfield traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the National Human Rights and Political Action Conference sponsored by the AFT.  This trip was funded by the AFT and included union leaders from around the country.  Marlyn Neuberger and Wendy Kucharek represented their CASD bargaining units.  The conference focused on learning more about the AFT Human Rights agenda and work the AFT is doing across the country and around the world.   Participants then worked in teams to develop a plan of action to address needs in their individual districts.

The four individuals worked with Beth Thoreson from AFTMichigan to develop a community outreach/political action plan that will unite our four local bargaining units.  This new committee is called C.A.U.S.E. (Crawford AuSable United School Employees).  To find out more about the plan for this group, see the C.A.U.S.E. tab on the homepage.
